The story of Shalam Colony has finally been put on film. This hour-long documentary tells about the people who set out to create a peace colony along the Rio Grande River in Mesilla Valley. It brings the trials and triumphs of their mission to life, captures the essence of who John Newbrough was and tells why he left everything behind to go and till the desert soil. Featured are local authorities including: Mary Jane Garcia, LesLee Alexander, Jon Hunner, George Lockhart, Pat Beckett, and Linda Harris. Local actors and reenactors featured include: Bob Diven, John Smith, and Crystal Schneider.
